Joseph Woodworth, an undergrad student who has been doing research with Prof. Manuel Tiglio, has been selected to receive a 2011 National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) Fellowship. The selection was based on his outstanding abilities and accomplishments,as well as his potential to contribute to strengthening the vitality of the US science and engineering enterprise.

Professor Sylvester James Gates (Physics) was the subject of an article in WMBB News, February 15. Gates, who praised Albert Einstein for publically supporting many African Americans, was a guest speaker at the Naval Surface Warfare Center-Panama City Division, commemorating Black History Month.

Sylvester James Gates (Physics) gave a public talk entitled “The Qunicunx Point” at the Andres Bello University, Santiago, Chile, January 10. On January 14 he gave a talk entitled “Graphs, Codes and SUSY Representations” at the Third South Pacific Coast Gravity Meeting, Vina del Mar, Chile.
