Faculty Position in Particle Theory The Department of Physics at the University of Maryland invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Elementary Particle Theory at the level of Assistant Professor. A more senior level position may be considered for exceptional candidates. The particle theory faculty currently includes Kaustubh Agashe, Zackaria Chacko, S. Jim Gates, Oscar W. Greenberg, Rabindra Mohapatra and Raman Sundrum. The successful candidate should have a demonstrated ability to conduct independent research, strong communication skills and capacity for physics education, and potential for leadership within the particle theory community. We expect that the successful candidate will complement the existing experimental andtheoretical strengths in the department. The preferred starting date for the position is August of 2012. QUALIFICATIONS: A Ph.D. in physics or a physics-related discipline and independent research experience. Good teaching is a high priority of the Department, and a potential for teaching excellence is necessary.
